Meet Nandipha Nkosi (27), a full-time entrepreneur from Kriel, Mpumalanga. She is the perfect definition of bold and fearless, as she is the first young woman to develop her own hair care brand in Kriel.
The power of belief is a catalyst for powerful personal change
Nandipha Nkosi is the founder and owner of Naniwe Essentials. “Naniwe essentials is an innovative natural hair care brand made with only the safest and purest ingredients to bring out only the best quality products”.
There is a simple reason behind Nandipha venturing into a hair care brand, “I struggled with my hair as I have dandruff prone hair”, she says. Your marketing should always be framed in such a way that it solves a problem a consumer has and we have just given away one of your hair problems that Naniwe Essentials can solve.

GET TO KNOW NANDIPHA
1. When did you start Naniwe Essentials?
I launched in June 2020, but research started a year prior.
2. What do you enjoy most about what you do?
Changing the narrative on natural hair, as it is often seen as “unprofessional” and expensive to maintain. I enjoy consumer feedback on our products and how it has affected their hair journey positively.

3. What has starting your own brand from scratch taught you?
Resilience. It is so much harder than I thought it would be. Introducing a new brand to any market is a lot of work. You need to create value. People don’t just support you because they know or like you. It is the value added with certain product/service and it requires a lot of patience.
4. Who inspires you?
Portia M – Portia M Skin
Vuyi Zondi- Corium Skincare
Theo Baloyi- Bathu
5. How do you define success?
Success for me is loving what you do and being able to positively affect the next person
6. What advice would you give to a young girl who is afraid to follow her dreams?
It is important to know what you want and then to actually go out and do it. Too many of us have dreams, but it all comes down to execution.

Nandipha is a firm believer that life happens outside of your comfort zone. It is where the real inspiration happens. ” I have always had entrepreneurial spirit, but, but I never thought I would have a fully functional business”, she says.
It is important to let things go, both emotionally and physically, take time to declutter your life and get rid of anything that doesn’t serve you. Nandipha left a job that she wasn’t completely happy with to start a brand from scratch. “Leaving something secure for the unknown has been quiet the experience, ” she says.
Habits are the small decisions you make and the actions you perform every day. What you repeatedly do ultimately forms the person you are and through self-discipline comes freedom., we would like to say congratulations to Nandipha for making bold decisions, for changing small habits and thank you for showing women of colour that anything is possible.
